With the rifle scope industry moving towards 30mm as the industry standard for tube diameter do you think that the hunter rifle weight be increased to accommodate these new 30mm rifle scope?

Scopes are not gettimg lighter. Nor are any companies "focusing" on products for Silhouette.

A part of me says instead of doing little incremental steps of changing the rules for Hunter rifle, just do away with it completely and go with the standard rifle. - No more worries about shifting scope weights.
- More flexibility for those of us that need just a little more wiggle room in the stock design.
- No good reason to buy two rifles unless you really want to.
- Better alignment with our Mexican friends (birthplace of our beloved sport).
- Better scores for everybody!
Sounds pretty good to me.

no i do not. hunter rifle should be a rifle out of the box,,, a hunting rifle. there was a reason they started a hunter rifle class. to get in new shooters with their hunting rifles and to stop the race wars of building a several thousand dollars rifle. the last several state matches i was at this year there was only a small few of us that was using a true hunter rifle. what the nra should do is to go back to a true hunting rifle, right out of the box. no stock changes, no barrel changes, trigger work to 2 1/2 pounds, and the current weight standards.

I would be good with that. Some "other types" of rimfire matches put out a price limit MSRP of your total rig. Same problem with gear wars.

Yes. Increase to 9.5 pounds. I shoot 22 f class and the light rifle weight is 9.5. My high power hunter gun is out of the box with a laminated wooden stock and I cant make weight with a 30mm tube 50mm bell rifle scope. I realize I could use a Leupold 6.5-20 efr but I dont want to be forced to use one. I also believe their should not be any weight limit on a standard rifle. If you are man enough to shoulder a 20 pound rifle, have at it.
