Craaack! (That is the sound of me opening a can of worms) Electronic scoring. Really needs to be considered. Really as an alternative for a range that may not have room or manpower for full size Silhouette. I have shot plenty of matches now in other diciplines that use computer scoring and have absolute confidence that it 1. Works 2. Could easily adapt to Silhouette if needed. My thoughts are a rule process to allow it as an alternative. Yes some shots would be Hits that may not move a Ram. Maybe determine a "hit box" on the animal to make it Score? Nobody said it was easy.

When you say "full size silhouette" to which version are you referring? High power, smallbore, lever-action (which of the three?), black powder, etc?
There are a few rules that would have to be contended with when considering this option... such as "the target must fall off the stand to count". Can you "ring" an electronic target like a 6mmBR can ring a high-power ram? How many great memories are created by an animal that just barely hangs on by a toe or turns a full 180 on the pad?
I'll admit that one of the most charming aspects to silhouette is to hear the "ping" and see the animal fly off the rail when you get a good hit. You just don't get the same visceral feedback from paper or electronic targets. There are concerns in the Olympic/3-P crowd that the Olympic shooting events will eventually end up with just electronic targets and laser guns with none of the minutia involved in getting a great score with projectile-launching firearms.
Having electronic targets for practice (an excellent resource) or for tough situations where the traditional range setup can't be attained... Sure. A replacement for the game we have now? I'd rather not.
