While I'm feelimg contraversial...
I propose a new class of Silhouette. Nom magnified Rifle. (Smallbore) Shot on 1/2 scale SB Lever targets. Equipment: Any rimfire rifle. Any form of Non-Magnified sight.
This is my perfect storm scenario to bring in new competitors. A catch all category that covers "walk on shooters" who know nothing of the intracacies of our sport but have any basic rimfire and want to shoot.
To grow the sport we must adapt. This is the way.

A common way to get a newbie started in this game... Sure thing!
We keep a set of 1/2 scale targets in the shed for when we have new people at a smallbore match, same as how we keep a set of 1/5 scale swingers (with backers) for a newbie at an air rifle match. It lets them get used to the commands, the rhythm of the match, the basic procedures, etc., all while actually hitting some targets and hopefully having fun.
Likewise, I'm sure any smallbore lever-action match director would be perfectly happy with letting a newbie show up and shoot their non-compliant rimfire rifle (bolt-action, semi-auto, scoped, etc.) at a lever-action match. Get them started and having fun, then work with them to get into compliance with their equipment if they seem to be sticking around.
Where I would draw the line would be in making it a new official class of rifle. We don't need more rifle classes added to this sport. If anything we should be working towards simplifying, but that's for another conversation.
