Hey guys,
Decided to dip my toes in to HP and purchased a Steyr PH II in 7mm-08 *talk about terrible timing*, so I'm very excited! I like to base everything on nationals as if I was ever going to go there, plus we have rules to follow no matter what, so I was wondering how strict are they on rifles with threaded barrels WITH an adapter for the threads? I would not be putting a brake or anything on it for a match, but I would like to keep the adapter on permanently if possible. Thanks.

As long as it's just a standard thread protector and not designed as an additional weight or extension then you should be fine for both Standard and Hunter rifle rules.

I mean, I want to put this on my threaded barrel. A thread converter. I guess it's not "designed" to be a weight or an extension so it should be fine?

In the rulebook, 3.1 (c) states... "Attachments which do not cause any portion of the rifle to exceed the weight or dimensions as listed herein are permitted provided they do not extend past the end of the barrel. Sighting devices are not considered “attachments”."
At a club match no one would ever protest a basic thread protector/adaptor like that. You might get a few second looks at a state championship or a regional match. At Nationals someone might take a swing at it (protest) but odds are pretty low unless you're kicking everyone's butt.
My opinion: find a simple thread protector that has no secondary threads and use that at matches. When you want to use a can then put the adaptor back on.
